Centralian Advocate Advertising Packages
SPECIAL FEATURE PACKAGES are an effective way of promoting your business, events, openings, anniversary, business relocations, or latest product release by booking a full page of space in the Centralian Advocate.
A feature page consists of adverts, a banner at the top of the page, and editorial which comprises stories and photos. The page is made up of two components -- advertising space, and editorial space. You can elect to make the advertising space or the editorial space as big as you like within your full page, depending on your needs.
We calculate this cost on an advertising space of 26cm by seven columns (which totals 182cm) at our casual advertising price per column centimetre. This discount equates to a saving of 30 per cent on the cost of a full page advert.
The stories and photos which appear on your page are organised by members of our editorial features department. You are welcome to submit your own stories and photos, or our journalists and photographers can produce the material for you.
Individual advertisers can reduce their own cost of their feature page by encouraging other advertisers to support their page with paid advertising. For example, if three other clients each took a 30cm ad on your page (comprising a total of 90cm), we would deduct this total cost) from the original full page cost.

advertising will further reduce your investment in the feature. The page would then incorporate paid support advertising to accompany your own advert and editorial space.
If you wish for other support advertisers to participate in a feature you initiated, you would then need to supply us a list of business names and their contact details (i.e. phone, fax numbers and email address) so our staff can make contact with them. If you are hoping to secure support advertising in your feature, it is always more effective for you to make contact with these businesses before our advertising consultants do.
THEME OR EVENT BASED FEATURES:
The Centralian Advocate offers regular features for individual businesses or service providers to promote themselves, their products or services. Our regular features are listed in an annual features calendar which attempts to reflect annual events (i.e. the Finke Desert Race in June and the Alice Springs Show in July). Businesses that participate in these regular features secure their space by committing to an advertisement of any size. The total number of pages devoted to the feature reflects the number of advertisers and the size of their advertisements. By booking an ad in a feature, the client receives free editorial (a story about the client) and in some instances, a photograph of the client, staff, business premises or products. Our general rule of thumb is that the bigger advertisers in each feature command more editorial space and photos. As a rule advertisers who commit to a space of less than 10cm by two columns do not receive editorial. The largest advertiser generally attracts the “lead” space on the page (i.e. the main story on the page).
A KICK START PACKAGE is a highly effective method of ensuring that your advertising gets off to a flying start. The aim of the Kick Start Package is to introduce new businesses, products or services to our readers. This package will allow you to do this through a combination of tailored advertising with accompanying editorial. To participate, we offer you an initial half page of space (20cm by seven columns in total) followed by three subsequent ads of 12cm by two columns. This package is designed to provide you with four insertions within the newspaper, spreading your advertising message over four separate editions. The initial 20cm by seven column ad comprises one 2cm by seven column banner, a 18cm by four column editorial space, and an 18cm by three column advert. Within this space, you will effectively only pay for the advertising space – not the editorial, nor the banner. Given that you are only paying for the advertising space, and not the banner or editorial space, the savings to you is more than $800.00. A BUSINESS PROFILE PACKAGE is an effective way of securing editorial space to accompany a paid advert. This package contains a 1cm banner, a 17cm by four column editorial block which comprises a story and a photo, along with a 17cm by three column advertisement. The total space offered under this package is 18cm by seven columns. Under this package, the savings lie in the editorial space, which is heavily discounted to you. Due to time lines this package can only be produced for a Tuesday paper. We can prepare your editorial or you can supply it to us in written or dot point form.
